John Wetton ( Asia, King Crimson, Uriah Heep). They know everyone ask any group from that era or from this that's worth anything. You should be so lucky to play anything close. Mick Box's guitars (the only original member) still screams on his guitar. They've had a lot of rough times and unfortrunate circumstances. David Coverdale thought about joining Uriah Heep after David Byron's departure. Lee Kerslake ( Drums from Uriah Heep) & Bob Daisley (Bass from Uriah Heep). Ozzy should be more open to who actually laid down the Drum & Bass tracks to Blizzard of Oz. If a tenth of any of the newer artists had a tenth of the talent these guys have we'd have some really good music out there. They just released a new album that really Rocks. In fact most groups are lucky to get 4 years of being a group let alone surviving 40 years.

Uriah Heep is probably one of the most underated groups. Uriah Heep are a really underrated band and will most likely never be inducted by the elitist hall, but they should. Iced Earth and Blind Guardian formed a side project named after a Heep album(Demons and Wizards). Also, other bands than Tesla have honored Heep. Just listen to this and then "Call Me" and you might see the similarities) they are not appreciated for all thier other good music.

In Heep's case, like in many, I feel that they have kind of been screwed out of classic rock radio airplay because all they really get is a yearly playing of "Easy Livin'"( Blondie might have ripped-off this song by the way. Some of my favorite Heep songs are "Sweet Lorraine", "Sunrise", "Gypsy", "Eay Livin'" and "The Wizard". They are definately earning of the title, "The Beach Boys of Heavy Metal" for thier great harmonies and melody. They basically created the progressive-metal genre before bands like Queensryche and Dream Theater popularized the style(I'm very surpised All Music Guide did not include them on the page of the genre). Uriah Heep, in my opinion, are another really overlooked band. Subsequent releases would find frequently exploring fantasy-oriented lyrical themes, often in lengthy, multi-part compositions. Their second album, Salisbury, was more squarely in the progressive rock genre, with its 16-minute title track featuring a 24-piece orchestra it also included “Lady in Black.” Their third album, Look at Yourself, released at the end of 1971, included the single "July Morning". The album's title references the signature phrase of the Dickens character Uriah Heep ("very 'umble") from the novel David Copperfield from which the band took its name. Very 'Umble (which was self-titled in the United States), introduced a heavy organ and guitar-driven sound, with David Byron's theatrical, dynamic vocals soaring above thunderous sonic backgrounds, although acoustic and jazz elements also featured in the mix. As one of the first bands to fuse progressive with metal, they are a precursor to the progressive metal genre.

Uriah Heep was sometimes referred to as "The Beach Boys of heavy metal" for their melodic songs, and trademark multi-part harmony backing vocals, although their music draws on diverse influences including: progressive rock, hard rock, heavy metal, jazz, and even country on occasion. If ever a band is described as “underrated” well, Uriah Heep is most deserving for the title of “Most Underrated Rock Band of All Time.” Now I am going to discuss one of the greatest prog rock acts of all time.
